Economic growth can´t be the goal anymore
People keep talking about the election, but right now that is NOT the most concerning issue we have. The big and pressing issue is the climate disaster that is coming up and the dismantling of the world as we know it, revealed by the pandemic.
It is not a matter of electing a new president, or finding a vaccine and going back to “normal”, because what we consider ordinary now is not good for the environment or humanity.
Mainstream media refers to economic growth as a precondition for development, but our current reality…
Who doesn´t need the ultimate probiotic during a world pandemic?
We all do, and certain things will never get old.
That´s the case of a prehispanic fermented Aztec beverage called pulque.
In Mexico, we make pulque by extracting the sweet juice of 8–12-year-old agave plants and let it ferment. When it just came out of the plant the juice is called aguamiel, which means honey water and it is full of minerals, fiber, and proteins.
Aguamiel is stored in wooden barrels for a few days until it gets foamy and bubbly. During that time, through fermentation, the liquid acquires a…
Long-distance relationships are addictive. They have the best of both worlds, because you can live your life as single, but you can also enjoy a few sporadic days together with someone you love.
If you have experienced a Far Away Love Story, you probably know that it involves spending precious days of cuddles, vacations together, video calls at night, or sweet good morning messages, and also having weeks for yourself to do whatever you want.
There are real advantages on Long Distance Relationships:
I was quietly sitting in my living room when I heard the seismic alarm in the background.
The Mexican Seismic Alert System is supposed to warn us 60 seconds before an earthquake starts, so we have time to get ourselves in a safe place.
I continued typing until my daughter rushed downstairs and asked if there was an earthquake. At the same time, my mom came out of the kitchen walking nervously.
Once the three of us stepped outside the house, I started to look around and watched how all the neighbors gathered in the front of their own…
A better one
Can you imagine a world where there is no need to fight anymore? Where different ethnic groups can live peacefully and according to rules they created?
A place where a previously oppressed community regain autonomy, respect and inclusion into a bigger country.
This was a Utopia for the indigenous people living in Chiapas, Mexico just a couple of decades ago.
It all started in 1991, when an army of indigenous people apeared in the southeast of Mexico. They took the government and most citizens of the country by surprise. They called themselves Zapatistas.
What did they want?
An introvert nightmare
Can we please accept that Zoom birthday parties suck?
It is worse when it is not someone close. It is an acquaintance.
It is your boss, university professor, or the cousin that lives far away, and you rarely see.
You can´t say no. Specially right now. Who is going to believe that you had something else to do on a Friday night during lockdown?
Let´s face it! You can´t make a normal excuse like “Oh! I am sorry, that is my good friend wedding that day”. Nobody is getting married lately. …
Our world has changed quickly and abruptly. In these times of uncertainty, citizens and communities are questioning law enforcement, not only in the United States but in other countries.
Certain groups in the United States are claiming to defund the police completely. There are others that wish to reduce funding to a certain level, but I am writing in regard to the first.
I don´t live in the USA but in Mexico we have had our share from police brutality. …
I received a visitor at my house this morning.
We have been told to reduce social interactions and do not have any visitor at all. In Mexico City cases are at their worst and according to the government we are at most risk than ever before. There is no capacity in the hospitals and if the trends continue there will be no ventilators for the people who needs them.
The problem is that we have been living in this new reality for months. How much longer is this going to be?
Everything fun is still closed in Mexico City. Cinemas…
Let’s create a chain, don’t break chain , let’s do it . #Challenge accepted.
Angel Joy challenged me first to answer a series of questions about the pandemic lock-down. I don´t like chains but this one is interesting, so here it goes.
From Angel Joy intro:
Alena Powell challenged me first to answer a series of questions about the pandemic lock-down. I know I’ve been tagged in this challenge by others. I’ve been so busy and then forgot to do it. Well, now it’s time to get it done.
I’m not intended to break the chain . …
